The area of South East Madrid is perhaps most famous for its new Parque Warner Madrid - a Warner Bros-themed amusement park that was opened as recently as 2002 with the aim being to rival Euro Disney as mainland Europe's foremost theme park.
Following a couple of name changes, Parque Warner Madrid was settled upon in 2006 and the park has been a success since then, attracting millions of visitors each year. It is located 25km to the south east of the city and so is easy to reach from the centre of Madrid.
Throughout the remainder of the southeastern area of Madrid, visitors should definitely stop off at the municipality of Chinchon, which boasts a stunning old town and a beautiful plaza that can trace its roots back to the middle ages. Additionally, the area of Arganda del Rey is also situated in this region and boasts some of the finest restaurants in the province, excellent local wines and some of Spain's finest olive oil production.
