Grapes from some of the finest wines produced in Spain originate from the area immediately south of Madrid, thanks largely to its warm climate and distinct, rocky soils.
The centre of Madrid is well-serviced by the metro system and extensive road network, while the airport is easily reached too.
For nature lovers, the picturesque Manzanares River - which winds lazily through Madrid's southern areas - is a great spot for strolling, boating and fishing. As for accommodation, the district boasts a wide selection of hotels, hostels and pensions, offering something for every budget.
